Candice Brown New Ambassador for Love British Food

Candice Brown, Winner of The Great British Bake off 2016, has pledged her support as an Ambassador for the Love British Food campaign, sponsored by Co-op.

She has joined other high-profile advocates including farmer and well-being writer, Liz Earle and legendary chef Raymond Blanc to help drive this grassroots movement and spread the #LoveBritishFood message far and wide.

Now a household name, Candice first wowed us with her baking when she impressed Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood on our TV screens. Since then she has gone on to bake on ITV’s This Morning, be an outspoken panellist on Loose Women and has a regular column in the Sunday Times.

Alexia Robinson, Founder of Love British Food and British Food Fortnight welcomed Candice Brown on board as an ambassador: “I first met Candice in September 2017 and was blown away by her enthusiasm for British food and producers so it was a natural step to invite her to join our campaign. I’m very much looking forward to working with her in 2018.”

Candice Brown said “I am a big supporter of buying British and supporting local producers so Co-op and Love British Food campaign are a natural fit for me. I look forward in working together this year to spread the #LoveBritishFood message.”

The Love British Food campaign culminates in British Food Fortnight which this year runs from 22 Sept – 7 Oct 2018 and is the biggest annual national celebration of food and drink produced in the country. Co-op is once again the Official Retail Partner and the campaign is supported by a committee of high profile organisations such as the WI, Federation of Young Farmers, Campaign to Protect Rural England and a host of catering organisations.

“Now in its 16th year British Food Fortnight is a hugely popular and proven catalyst for inspiring people up and down the country. Last year in excess of 1.5million British meals were served during the Fortnight through schools, universities, hospitals, care homes and corporates. 3,000+ shops, restaurants and pubs took part in addition to thousands of events in villages and towns. These are uncertain times for farmers and we are going to bring all our experience through Love British Food to make sure there is a robust domestic consumer market for their produce. With the Co-op leading the way on the high street and making buying British food accessible for everyone young and old plus with Candice joining Raymond Blanc, Liz Earle and Deputy President of the NFU, Minette Batters we are in a strong position to secure a great future for British food and farming,” added Alexia Robinson.
